Forrest management: Land clearing and creation, farm-scale Arbor work

Possible Ag helps farmers manage and make productive the eucalyptus forests on their land. Unmanaged forests are a hazard to both livestock and farmers. Possible Ag allows farmers to manage the forests by removing fallen branches, thinning hazardous trees, and promoting the development of tree roots. Opening the canopy of a forested area can make it suitable for grazing and can be a source of revenue on the farm. We anticipate which trees are likely to fall or become wounded and select strong, upright trees that are not in direct competition with one another, creating space for new trees and opening up the canopy for grazing or other fire management strategies. Fallen branches can make these areas difficult to navigate for humans and livestock, representing a fire risk and habitat for invasive species. Forested areas on farms represent a significant biomass resource that can benefit the whole farm if appropriately managed.

Land repair

Possible Ag works with farmers to bring degraded land back into productivity by developing cost-effective repair plans. Many farms have large areas of degraded and non-productive land, and often there is enough biomass on the farm to improve the productivity of these areas significantly. Degraded land is unacceptable, and studies and experience have shown that bare land exposed to sunlight results in significant losses in soil biology and mineral nutrients, as well as increased weathering and erosion. Possible Ag can help with a solution.

Carbon farming

Possible Ag helps farmers establish eligible and productive biomass recycling and composting systems. Establishing composting infrastructure is an accepted method for building soil carbon within the Australian carbon credit accreditation system. We can assist farmers in building such strategies eligible for government credits and subsidies.

Farm scale composting

Possible Ag helps farmers establish on-site biomass recycling by setting up composting systems from excess biomass on the farm. The compost teas and new soil created from this process can be a practical resource to increase farm productivity.

Biological farming

Possible Ag offers consulting services to farmers interested in lowering their use of agrochemicals, such as fertilisers and herbicides, and improving soil biology to increase profitability. Services offered may include advice on pasture remediation, biomass recycling, grazing strategies, plant varieties, and connecting farmers with equipment and contractors for farm work. If a farmer is interested in reducing chemical usage and improving soil biology, Possible Ag can help them implement strategies to achieve those goals.

Impossible jobs: labour

Our team of skilled labourers can handle difficult jobs that require physical strength and endurance, where machinery cannot access, and timeliness is essential. Our skilled tradesmen are well-equipped to tackle projects that contractors may not be willing to undertake. We have the expertise and experience to complete the job efficiently and effectively.

Water treatment

Possible Ag draws on biological farming and permaculture principles to help farmers manage and conserve water resources on the farm. Implementing water management strategies can prevent nutrient leaching and runoff, preserving soil nutrition and protecting water quality. We can offer filtration of dam water, creation of natural pools, reduction of turbidity, and removal of heavy metals. By implementing these strategies, we can help farmers improve their water management and make better use of this precious resource.
